Leapians On The Ramp!

Congratulations to the Grades 4 and 5 Leapians, who actively participated in their mini fashion show, which was held on July 15, 2011 at the Leap of Faith Learning Center campus.

It was nothing like an official school-sponsored event. Rather, it was simply one of their activities in their Home Economics and Livelihood Education (H.E.L.E.) class. So, those who were not able to watch the show should not be dismayed, although it could have been a lot more enjoyable and exciting had there been more audience around.

The participating Leapians were judged accordingly and the points they garnered were equivalent to their grade in a quiz for the subject. The judges invited were Lianne Mycah N. Narciso – 2007 Mutya ng Baganga, Davao Oriental; Mia Amor P. Nazareno – First Runner Up, 2003 Mutya ng Baganga, Davao Oriental, who unfortunately could not make it for the show; and the Chairman of the Board of Judges being Johanna Monica N. Yu – 2010 Mutya ng Dabaw Pag-Asa.

The participants were graded according to their correct way of walking; proper sitting posture; proper way of standing; speaking ability; appropriateness of clothes worn; and poise and grace. They paraded in their Sunday Dress Attire; Sleep Wear; Party Garb; and Sports Wear.

They ended their mini fashion show with a group dance performance.

Thereafter, the Graders had a bonus activity when the judges present volunteered to give them a quick and brief training on how to walk just like their favourite beauty queens and ramp models. This as well included some tips on how they should present themselves, and be a winner, while they are on stage.

Interestingly, these older Leapians were much eager to learn from their “big sisters”. Who knows, we might have the future Miss Universe (or Mr. Model Universe, if there’s such a thing), right here at Leap of Faith Learning Center!

The above morning activity was aimed at giving importance to the simple daily gestures, mannerisms, and bearings that little girls and boys should start to be trained with and to have at an early age. The same should be corrected as early as possible as it is believed that it is only through practice that these proper behaviors can grow into a habit, which they can carry with them even as they grow up.

Not only did the Grades 4 and 5 Leapians learn a lot from this activity, but they obviously had loads of fun. Why, the judges, the other Leapians, and some spectators who were around at the time had a fabulous time witnessing the mini fashion show as well!
