The Leapians’ World Tour

The LOFLC went to a trip around the world during the United Nations Day held last October 23, 2010 with our intelligent and charming little Leapians as tour guides.  This year’s theme was: “Our children as the ambassadors of the world.”  The activity aimed at introducing our children to the different cultures around the world; helping them discover and understand life in another yet much broader perspective, which allowed them to develop into globally competent persons who can keep abreast with the changing times; and most importantly, the activity aimed at teaching our children peace and unity even beyond diversity.

Briefly, the “United Nations” was a name coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  The United Nations is an international organization that officially came into existence on October 24, 1945.  It is committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.  The partnership between the United Nations and the Philippines began in June 26, 1945 when the Philippines joined 49 other nations in signing the United Nations Charter in San Francisco, USA.  The United Nations now has 192 member states.

To make the activity more fun and realistic, the children were enjoined to wear costumes of countries they wish to represent.  They had a parade of nations and a pageant-like presentation.  However, instead of the usual Q and A, the children were asked to say a short spiel that best described their countries.  This year’s costumes literally blew us all away as the parents really took the extra mile this time in dressing up their children.

The following winners were voted upon by the LOFLC parents:
