Kudos To The New Scouts

New members to the distinguished Boy Scouts of the Philippines and Girl Scouts of the Philippines Councils were recognized during the Scouting Day held on September 30, 2011 at the Leap of Faith Learning Center quadrangle.

The Leapians’ parents as well as the LOFLC teachers, administration, and staff were all proud to have witnessed the transformation of the Leapians into full-fledged Twinkler Scouts, Kid Scouts, Stars Scouts, Cub Scouts, Junior Boy Scouts, and Junior Girl Scouts, respectively. The event was not replete with the occasion’s mere formalities, as afterwards, the newly endorsed Scouts were also given a chance to mingle and to have fun with their comrades through team games. It should be mentioned that the Scouts did a wonderful job playing fair and being complete sports, whether their team won a game or not.

Other than the investiture proper, the highlight of the day was when the Junior Boy Scouts performed their Fancy Drill, led by Teacher Roxan, their Scout Master. Certainly, everyone would agree that they more than caught the crowd’s interest when they did their rendition of the “Hey, Mickey!” dance – the Junior Boy Scouts’ way, of course.

The day was not over, however, for the older Scout rangers, who participated in the overnight camp activity in the school campus, which lasted the following day on October 1, 2011. The juncture allowed them to learn as well as to apply some practical living and basic survival skills, on their own and away from home. Also, it was a wonderful time for the participants to express themselves through their talents and creativity, along with their teachers, during the evening’s brief Showtime re-make.

Before the campers’ day ended the following morning, they went out for a hike and a short visit to the church of the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters, popularly known as the Pink Sisters in Bangkal. The nice cool morning breeze, plus, the magnificent view of the church’s surroundings made a great start to everyone’s morning. That was a lovely walk, indeed, and highly recommended by the Leapians!

Without everyone fully realizing it yet, each time these kids are promoted to a higher Scout rank marks the cycle of their growth into men and women for others, who bear the values and virtues of a true blue Philippine Scout. This, in turn, will help make them self-reliant, well-rounded, and globally competent persons of faith – the very goal of the Leap of Faith Learning Center.
