A Leapian’s Day Out: The Little Explorer

The Leapians were wowed by the Science experiments they witnessed at the Mindanao Science and Technology Centrum (MSTC), which was the first of the two destinations in their annual Educational Field Trip held last February 17, 2012.

After a brief orientation at the Leap of Faith Learning Center, where the students and their parents as well as teachers gathered, everyone traveled on convoy to their first stop, the MSTC. The gloomy weather accompanied by a small amount of rain did not stop the Leapians from having fun, and from enjoying this much-awaited educational trip.

Even at the MSTC, the Leapians showed their eagerness to learn when they volunteered and were called to actively participate in the experiments.

Aside from the brief lecture and experiments, the Leapians enjoyed the hands-on exhibits, which showed practical application of the various theories in Science that they have learned. Not only the Leapians, but clearly, their parents, guardians, and teachers, learned a lot from this short visit to the MSTC.

The excitement of the Leapians heightened as they headed to their next destination – the Malagos Garden Resort (MGR). The children were oblivious to the rain pouring, as they were busy cheering the participating birds in the MGR’s Interactive Bird Show.

Dr. Bo Puentespina – a notable veterinarian, environmentalist, and conservationist – took the moment to give a short lecture to his guests about the origin and nature of his flying friends and how to take good care of them as well as their habitat. The children and their parents also listened attentively to Dr. Bo’s tips and advices on how everyone can contribute to the conservation and protection of our environment.

After the show, the Leapians and their parents did not waste time in exploring and enjoying the beauty as well as the recreation and amenities offered them by this renowned Davao’s nature park – the Malagos Garden Resort.

That was truly one fun learning experience that the Leapians enjoyed all in a half day’s time. What’s next for these Little Explorers? Just wait and see!
